| | A Wards reunionApril 21, 2010 - Cindy VotrubaI was checking through my Hotmail e-mail account and found a note from a former co-worker from my retail days. On May 1 there will be a reunion for past employees of the Montgomery Ward in Duluth. It’s been more than 10 years since the store closed and eventually became a car lot, but the memories of Monkey Wards still remain. I wasn’t one to push credit card applications, I didn’t really sell extended warranties on housewares, I just quietly made my way through the day working in Domestics. That’s how I learned how comfortable T-shirt sheets are and still use them to this day. I have the comforter I bought back in 1994 when I first started at Wards. It was through Wards that I met one of my best friends who now lives in Utah, so my experiences there weren’t all bad. But will I go to the reunion next Saturday? Unfortunately not as it’s in Proctor, a suburb of Duluth and I have to work the next day on Sunday. But it’s nice to see that people still care enough to get together; even if it’s been 11 years.
