I need a month's notice

April 27, 2010 - Karin Elton
I’m feeling kind of iffy these days ever since I learned that Yellowstone Park is the site of a supervolcano which could go off in 100,000 years, 10,000 years or tomorrow. The earth seems so precarious with all the shifting and gurgling that goes on.

Also, Iran has nuclear weapons. Wow.

CNN said that smart guy Stephen Hawking says that with the billions of galaxies out there, that there are aliens. I’m pretty sure he said it smarter than that last sentence.

Hawking, who wrote the book, “A Brief History of Time,” posited that the aliens have used up their resources and are on the hunt for new stuff.

I don’t feel so unsettled with this information because I figure, with billions of galaxies, what are the odds that they are going to come knocking on Earth’s door?

Hawking has a show on the Discovery channel on Sunday nights. I’m going to watch it even though I’m feeling anxious as it is. I still like to know these things. I hope the show will be more understandable than his book. I tried to read it and couldn’t get very far.

If Yellowstone Park is going to blow or Iran is going to nuke us or aliens are going to wipe us out, I’d like to know so I could plan. I’d stop trying to pay bills and take a nice vacation.
