Not too little, just too late

The Vikings stadium plan isn’t a bad one, necessarily, but the timing could’ve been better. Supporters say the iron is hot now, but it hot two months ago, too. Now, with just two weeks left in the 2010 session, this legislation probably won’t see the light of day this year. The Legislature has too much to worry about already and there’s no way they’ll be forced into a special session because of a stadium for a professional sports team. The good news is at least it got snuck in so legislators can have something to think about this winter after the elections are over. Maybe they should tie a string around a finger to remind them to take action on the stadium issue next spring.
