June 11, 2010 - Deb Gau
I've had another change in perspective recently. Over the last couple of days, the furniture in the Independent office has been rearranged, and now my desk faces south-ish instead of sorta-west (the way Marshall is laid out, compass directions are all kinds of messed up). Actually, all the newsroom desks face south-ish now. It's good to mix things up a bit, and hopefully the new layout will work for everybody. Most of us have a clearer view of the front desk and people arriving in the office now.
Mostly, I feel awkward that I wasn't more help during the moving process. I'm really out of shape and not good for lifting heavy objects, so I was stuck watching as "the guys" in the office lugged our desks around. I didn't have much of a plan as to where the heavy desks should be lugged, either, so yeah. I was pretty useless.
