More Cavemen
August 24, 2010 - Karin Elton
For four hours Saturday, a thousand or so Marshall-area 50-somethings were teens again. They bopped their heads or danced to songs such as “Oh, Carol” and “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
My friend Kriss from high school and I were among the Cavemen fans. We danced to a few tunes. I tried to get my two 14-year-old daughters and their two friends to dance but of course they wouldn’t think of it.
My pal and I saw someone from high school, a Geske, who we hadn’t seen in years. We could barely remember her, but then we recognized her by her dimples.
Everyone there had a lot of fun, especially the band. They sounded terrific. The saxophone was a fantastic addition to the sound. Shorty Polman turned 64 last week but he was strutting his stuff on the stage with all the energy of Justin Bieber.
Well done, Sounds of Summer committee.
