| | Too many books, too little timeSeptember 29, 2010 - Cindy VotrubaAs I've mentioned before in columns and past blogs, I'm a voracious reader. I remember in junior high when a classmate mentioned that someone could have a gun pointed at me, but I probably wouldn't put the book I was reading down. This past weekend I went back to my old stomping grounds of Somerset, Wis. The Half Price Books store in Maplewood was having a grand opening sale in its new location. And Sunday was the last day of the sale with a 50% off coupon for one item. So you know what that means...those who probably haven't set foot in the old location will think it's the best sale ever! The brother and I arrived at the store around 10:30 a.m. It had opened at 10 and I heard there was already a line outside. The parking lot was packed, but fortunately as we were doing the loop, a spot opened up at the front. The inside was full of people looking. There was a line already around the bend with an employee holding up a sign that said "End of the line." I found several books, a couple of British television shows on DVD and got in line, picking up a couple more books on book pods as we got closer. After spending $40 there, I went ahead and grabbed more than $17 worth of books at the Goodwill in Stillwater. I really, really need to stop buying books.
