How exciting for the country of Chile yesterday and today to have its 33 miners back above ground. It was riveting last night to watch the first guy be reborn from the earth.
It took a lot of cojones for the mine rescue expert to go into that phone booth and travel a half a mile into the earth. I can’t help thinking about the last guy to get out. He’ll be all alone for about a half hour.
I don’t know how those men kept alive and sane for the first 17 days until the first communication and supplies from above.
Coincidentally, SMSU is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month today and now there is one more thing to give thanks for.
