| | Giving up Facebook for LentMarch 16, 2011 - Cindy VotrubaWell in the previous blog I talked about how it's hard to give up meat on Fridays for Lent. I remember when I was in Catholic grade school about how me and my classmates would talk about giving up pop or candy for the six weeks before Easter. Or it's cutting back on watching TV. Of course as I grew older, I gave up giving up things for Lent. I saw an article in today's (Tuesday) Star Tribune about giving up Facebook for Lent. One such person went FB-free for two years. Another example showed a couple of friends changing each other's password to Facebook so they wouldn't be able to log on. Now I'll admit I'm a Facebook user, probably more than I should be. I've used it to contact sources, find old college friends and keep a reasonable relationship with my cousins. It would be hard to give up, even for six weeks. Sometimes I hate being so dependent on social media and the Internet in general. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
