Parenting school

March 23, 2011 - Karin Elton
I was talking to a co-worker today about the mother who ran over her infant. The child was left apparently forgotten in a stroller after the mother had placed her 3-year-old in a car seat.

I said to my friend, “If you’re going to forget your kid, don’t leave him in front of the car or in back of the car. Leave the stroller to the side, that’s what they should tell you in parenting school.”

I added that everybody should go to parenting school and marriage school for that matter.

How many problems that would avert. I would certainly have benefited from attending both.

I remember panicking when my first baby (from my first marriage) slept a full five hours instead of waking up every two hours to nurse. Luckily he came with instructions from the hospital that clearly stated, “infant may sleep for five or six hours at a time — don’t worry.”

I wish my teen-agers came with instructions.
