I’ve heard of a shootist — because of a 1976 John Wayne movie in which he plays a gunfighter or shootist. I remember that movie — it featured an edgy performance by Wayne and he didn’t make too many like that. And now I’ve heard of a hospitalist. Avera Marshall has a hospitalist on staff. A hospitalist is a doctor who specializes in caring for patients while they are in the hospital, said a recent news release from Avera Marshall. “A hospitalist allows other physicians to maintain their clinic schedules while receiving regular updates on their hospitalized patients and allows patients with complex medical needs to receive care locally.” So this journalist just added to her vocabulary and knowledge base.
