Super 8er Gator

April 12, 2012 - Karin Elton
From the Associated Press files... “PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) — Authorities in Louisiana say a 6-foot alligator showed up at the front door of a Super 8 Motel outside Baton Rouge and bit a guest. West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes tells The Advocate his office got the call about the alligator around 4 p.m. Wednesday in Port Allen. Matt Marszal, the motel's front desk clerk, says the gator bit one of the motel guests who tried to catch it before Animal Control workers showed up. Marszal said the man was taken to the hospital. Once Animal Control workers arrived, he said the gator was subdued within 5 minutes.”

I stayed at a Super 8 last weekend. I’m glad I didn’t open the door to find an alligator. I know I would have promptly closed the door, not try to subdue the creature. Why did the guest try to catch a 6-foot alligator? Unless he or she happened to be a swamp person, (see history channel’s “Swamp People” if you don’t know what a swamp person is) they had no business monkeying around with a gator.
