| | Thumbs upAugust 9, 2012 - Karin EltonLast week I wrote a story about participants in a 4H horse show in which I mentioned a young horsewoman received a $20,000 scholarship for her horsemanship skills. I thought that was a unique way to get money for college. Another unique way took place this week — the sixth annual U.S. LG National Texting Competition. According to the AP, “A 17-year-old boy who says he has ‘abnormally fast thumbs’ has been named the fastest texter in America” — and get this, his win is for the second year in a row. Austin Wierschke of Rhinelander, Wis., received 50K last year for his prodigious digits and the same amount this year. Wow, 100K for texting. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
