Just want to fit in
September 18, 2012 - Karin Elton
As I dropped my daughter off at the high school this morning I noticed a girl looking disdainfully in our direction. I said to my daughter, “that girl is giving you a dirty look.”
My daughter looked at the girl and said to me, “she’s giving your car a dirty look.”
It was true. The right side of my car is smashed in and ugly. But I didn’t realize it was so offensive that a person couldn’t take their eyes off of it and have such a look of disgust.
Someone ran into the car this summer and I haven’t gotten it fixed. The passenger door is smashed on the bottom and it’s open at the top. I can’t hear the radio when I’m driving down the highway because of the noise of the wind. The back right passenger door doesn’t open. I’ll have to find two doors at a junkyard, but the color most likely won’t match, so it will still be hard to look at.
I hope the mismatched colors will be more acceptable to that girl. I don't care if my car is in with the popular crowd, but I don't want it to be such an outcast that it has to sit alone in the lunchroom.
