Can you pop a wheelie on it?
October 15, 2012 - Karin Elton
I was wondering how I would get to work when gas gets prohibitively high — in the Yahoo! roundup of news today I read about an Israeli inventor who has perfected a bicycle made out of cardboard. He said an electric motor can be added on to it which you can remove and take inside with you to recharge.
He said the bike will cost $20 and weighs about 20 pounds. The bike “has the potential to change transportation habits from the world's most congested cities to the poorest reaches of Africa, its Israeli inventor says.”
The Segway was supposed to change the transportation world, but it turned out only an elite few can afford one. The bike inventor, Izhar Gafni, said the bikes can be given out for free to those who need them through government grants and corporate advertising.
Gafni is working on a cardboard car — so I can get to work cheaply during the winter.
