Reuben, Reuben

May 22, 2014 - Karin Elton
A person named Rueben is in the obituaries this week. Seeing that name triggered a memory for me.

My dad used to have a friend named Reuben — Reuben Binnebose from Willmar. I don’t know where we learned this little ditty, maybe someone brought it home from camp, but my sister Robin and I used to sing, “Reuben, Reuben, I’ve been thinkin’, what the heck have you been drinkin’? Smells like whiskey, tastes like wine — oh my gosh, it’s turpentine!”
