Where did my summer go?

August 28, 2008 - Cindy Votruba
I've always considered the fourth of July the "middle" of summer. Boy, did that slip by fast. Now it's almost Labor Day and I'm wondering "where did my summer go?" At least I got to go out swimming a couple of times at the Marshall Aquatic Center. I finally did that trip to DeSmet I always wanted to take. I even bought a state park pass and explored the Upper Sioux State Park. But there's always still more I want to do. I still want to go to Watertown, S.D. and see the Terry Redlin Museum and check out that Body Worlds exhibit. I got to see the one at the Science Museum a couple of years ago. It's pretty cool, but boy was it crowded. I don't know if a journey to Duluth will happen this year. I keep meaning to visit a friend of mine who had moved into a new house last year up there. It's been three years since I've seen him last. I remember a time, probably almost a decade ago now (wow, time sure does fly!) when all my friends were up in the Twin Ports area. Now they're all over, Utah, Racine, Wis., Houston, Texas and me here in Marshall. I try to keep in contact as best I can, but it is nice to see them in person. An age-old tradition I've had for the last six or so years is going to the Box Car Days parade in Tracy. I join a group of friends who sit in the same place, so they're easy to find. It's one of the best parades in the area, so I recommend checking it out.
