| | Some introductions are in orderJanuary 29, 2009 - Deb GauAs my editor said when I asked her about starting a blog, this is a big moment for me. I think I’m officially the last member of our newsroom staff without a blog presence. For a long time, I thought I’d keep it that way. “What would I have to write about?” I’d ask myself. My personal life is pretty boring, and I know my family well enough that I’m sure they’d appreciate me keeping them off the Web, thanks. As a reporter, I don’t have a really specialized beat on which I can comment. This being the Internet and all, there’s always the option to start giving out my opinions on anything and everything, but that seldom ends well. “I got nothing,” I thought. And yet, here I am, writing a blog. What’s changed? I suppose part of it is that I keep running into more people and stories than I could put into newspaper articles. On a blog, I can share a little bit more of what it’s like to cover some of those stories and meet those people. And if the Internet is the wave of the future in journalism like I’ve been hearing for quite a while now, there’s just no point in putting it off. So, hello, world! My name is Deb. I’m a reporter here at the Independent. And I have a blog. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | in: News, Blogs & Events Web |
