| | Rolling out the brown and gold carpetMarch 18, 2009 - Per PetersonThousands of basketball fans poured into and out of the R/A facility at Southwest Minnesota State University this past weekend and Tuesday for the Men’s Division II North Central Regional Tournament. They saw the R/A Facility mostly, but hopefully also took in the campus as a whole — from the semi-new Student Center, to the 1-year-old Regional Events Center/football field/soccer field. They saw the campus is continuing to grow with the residential halls on the west end of campus. There were a few minor glitches here and there, but the SMSU community didn’t disappoint in being the hosts of the tournament — the biggest athletic event to ever take place on campus. The atmosphere in the R/A Facility before games, during games and after games resembled that of a big-time NCAA sporting event, and everyone who worked on the details of event — from security to the hospitality room — should be congratulated for a job well-done.
