Buckling down on buckling up

June 10, 2009 - Per Peterson
While I don’t suggest trying to stare into the cabs of other vehicles while driving, take a glimpse once in awhile to see how many people are wearing their seat belts now that the new primary seat belt law is in effect. Not only could gazing at other cars while doing 35 end with you crashing into a light pole somewhere, you can get dizzy doing it. That’s from experience folks. Maybe I just never noticed before, but as I drive around peering through the windows of other vehicles at intersections or stop lights or in parking lots, I’ve noticed almost everyone is buckled up. How long has this been going on? Is this a new thing? Are people really taking this law seriously? Looks like it. At one time Wednesday, I counted 10 straight drivers with their belts on. Then I saw a cop pull someone over behind me on East College. Hmm. I wonder what he got busted for?
