Dog Days of Summer

Did you hear? We’re finally getting summer! Well, summer-like weather anyways. Here we are, almost at mid-August and we haven’t had a really hot day. Until now.

The next couple to three days are supposed to be hot and humid, with temperatures in the 90s. Now we can really enjoy the swimming pool or the lake (not like we couldn’t before, but it would be a relief from the heat). Lemonade will be refreshing. And there’s always time for ice cream.

Schools have started football camp and this past week, Marshall has been doing marching band camp. Trust me, you’ll see a lot of water being consumed by students toward the end of the week. I remember last year’s band camp. It was somewhere in the high 80s by 10 a.m. and kids were sweating, all wearing shorts and sunglasses. I didn’t want to be in their shoes. I would want to be in front of the air conditioner. With a frosty can of Mt. Dew.
