Bow & arrow vs. Frisky

August 13, 2009 - Per Peterson
I’m a dog person. While this doesn’t mean I hate cats — people can like both, right? — I would just as soon not deal with them. But I wouldn’t kill one. Ajalon Thomas Corcoran, however, would. He’s a 24-year-old from St. Charles who has been sentenced to three weeks in jail and four years probation for killing a young girl’s cat. With a bow and arrow. He had earlier been convicted of felony mistreatment of animals. He says the cat was eating birds and messing in his garden, the Associated Press reported. One, cats eat birds, it’s what they do. Get over it. Except Sylvester, he never was able to get one down I don’t think. The messing thing, I can see that being a skosh irritating, but don’t you think there are other ways of dealing with a cat with the runs than going Rambo on it? The man’s attorney plans to appeal the conviction because the statute requires prosecutors prove Corcoran knew the cat was a pet for him to be guilty of a felony. Whatever happens, I hope this guy has learned a lesson. I don’t want to go all PETA on everyone, but that’s just wrong.
