Performances and pizza

September 1, 2009 - Cindy Votruba
I haven’t been to Watson until this past Saturday. It’s a little town, about 215 people. The Marshall Area Stage Company performed its Shakespeare show at the town hall.

The actors were saying how much they liked the stage. Now they just needed an audience. The show was at 7 p.m. I was waiting by the door to hand out programs. No one was showing up. It was getting to be about quarter to 7 and finally someone came in. Then a couple of women from Montevideo. They said the show was nicely advertised on the public access channel and the newspaper. But there were a few other activities around the area. The show was delayed a few minutes because some others were still coming; at least to get the audience into double digits. The woman who arranged to have the performance in Watson has been in a couple of MASC’s Shakespeare shows and she remembers performing in front of an audience of four when it was traveled somewhere.

Just one more performance to go in Minneota on Sept. 11.

On an aside note, it was the first time I’ve tried pizza at Jake’s Pizza in Montevideo. One from our party got a barbecue pork; another got chicken and pesto. I regret not trying either. Ross and I had gotten a oven pizza or whatever it was called, with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives and onions. With the exception of the mushrooms and olives, it was a really good pie.
