| | Lurid late night moviesSeptember 21, 2009 - Karin EltonI usually read in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep, but sometimes I watch the Turner Classic Movies network. Those old movies are a hoot to watch. My kids can’t stand black and white movies, but as with a lot of things, they’ll probably change their mind when they get older. (Coffee is really good. I promise!) The other night I turned TCM on and a 1950s movie was on the reel. A guy just got out of prison for manslaughter and he stopped at a farm down south for a drink of water. This farm’s main crop was two unrealistically beautiful daughters. They looked like a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Marilyn from the Munsters. They had that platinum blonde hair that was so popular in the 50s — at least in the movies. At the farm there was a perpetual party going on — the phonograph played lively music and the flawless fillies didn’t mind dancing with the barefoot and scraggly-bearded local yokels. The mother didn’t have a tooth in her head, but she managed to run somebody's wayward husband off by saying, “Get out of here with your IOUs!” Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
