Flu fighter

My niece out in southern California just had a bout of H1N1. She said in an e-mail that circulated throughout our family that it wasn’t too bad. She said she was “able to stave off most of it by just staying at home and in bed for three days and squirting Zicam” up her nose.

Now she has “a lingering (but nasty) cough.”

She is going to law school out there and said the flu is permeating the halls there — all those sleep-deprived students with their depressed immune systems.

I wonder why the flu has hit so early and hard this year?

There’s a theory that the more people there are that think a certain thing, the more likely it will happen. So maybe the huge amount of media attention that swine flu has gotten has been a self-fulfilling prophecy.
