After trying to get in to see a Friday night showing of the Twilight saga movie, “New Moon,” and trying to see it the next afternoon and being turned away because they were sold out, my girls finally were able to see it Saturday night.
My girls turned 14 Friday and wanted to see the movie as part of their birthday party and I didn't horn in on that but felt I could see it with them the day after their birthday.
We should have known to arrive extra early because we barely got a seat. We had to sit in the second row which is way too close.
It’s a good movie. I was a little hesitant about seeing it because an AP review gave it one and a half out of four stars. It said it was boring. But if you are not plugged into the whole vampire/werewolf/teen-aged girl thing, I guess you wouldn’t like it.
Entertainment Weekly gives it a B+ and that’s what I would give it.
A friend of my daughters came with to the movie. She hasn’t read the books (what’s wrong with her?) so I wonder what she thought of the movie. You kind of wouldn’t know the nuances such as why the red-headed vampire wants to kill Bella so badly.
Another friend of my daughters didn’t want to see the movie at all. She likes to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. She hasn’t seen the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies because she likes the shocked reaction she gets when people find out.
My daughters think that is pretty dumb — to not do something that you might like because it is a popular thing. I said it’s cutting off your nose to spite your face. I got a blank look back.
My 19-year-old niece has seen the movie twice already and is going to go again — that’s how much she liked the movie.
Robert Pattinson seems to be a goofball as a person, but as Edward Cullen, he sure can smolder.
