Sliding down Highway 75...

December 30, 2009 - Cindy Votruba
And the driving fun continues. I decided to schedule a couple of stories in Canby Wednesday, so I took it easy on Minnesota Highway 68. A vehicle I followed a little bit decided to take it even more easy by going 30 miles per hour. Not bad, but I wanted to get to Canby by at least 11:15 for the business story interview I was doing. Got there in the nick of time too. Then I went down Minnesota Higway 75 for my next interview, a story on an artist. I slowed down to avoid hitting a bird, don’t know if it was a pheasant necessarily and started sliding all over the road. Scared me for a while as I thought I was going to experience my first rollover. But somehow in my panic I got out of my skid and was driving straight again, cursing out a bird.

As most of us have already seen on the messy highways these last few days are pheasants on the side of the road and there’s always one that ventures right in front of you. That happened outside of Taunton. I was like, “ok, I’ll just be hitting the pheasant.” But I don’t know where it went and I had slowed down like a dummy and started sliding again. This time in front of a semi, which eventually passed me, probably thinking “learn to drive already!” Is it April yet?
