North Star welcomes Hellie as new vice president Pete Hellie of Cottonwood has been hired as the vice president of finance for North Star Mutual. Hellie is currently the general manager of Norwegian Mutual of Cottonwood. He will assume his new position once a manager has been hired to replace him. Hellie lives near Cottonwood with his wife, Joy. They have two children, Andy and Kate. Avera Marshall announces August Spirit of Excellence award winner Cris Knott, Medical Equipment Technician from Avera Home Medical Equipment of Marshall, has been chosen to receive Avera Marshall’s “Spirit of Excellence” Award for August 2008. Each month the award is given to an employee who demonstrates the medical center’s values of compassion, hospitality and stewardship. Cris has worked at Avera HME of Marshall since November 2006.

Still no site work on the proposed Menard’s store as of July 3. A Market Street Mall store is moving downtown but not to its originally-proposed site. And there are other changes, or lack of changes, in Marshall’s commercial landscape of late.
