Marshall Firearms Safety begins March 30
Marshall Firearms Safety courses will begin Monday, March 30, at the Lyon County Law Enforcement Center. A parent or guardian must attend the first class to complete registration and a brief orientation. Attendance at all classes is required to receive a certificate. The class will be open to students 11 years of age or older (including adults). The course fee is $15, and checks should be made payable to Marshall Firearms Safety. Students need to bring a business size, self-addressed, stamped envelope to class. To register, call Marshall Community Services at 537-6767. Adults wishing to take the class online are welcome to, but must attend the first class to register and receive instruction. Schedule: Monday, March 30 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 2 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, April 6 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday, April 16 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, April 20 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday, April 23 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday, April 25 (range day) Noon-5 p.m.

A fishing derby is planned from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the west side of Lake Sarah.
The event is sponsored by Lake Sarah P.A.L.S. club.
In case of inclement weather, the derby will be Feb. 15.
Roadsides for wildlife kickoff event set for Thursday in Marshall
Roadsides and wildlife will be the featured topics at a public meeting at the MnDOT office in Marshall on Thursday.
The free session will begin with refreshments and a “meet and greet” at 9:30 a.m.
Sportsmen’s town hall meeting is Tuesday
“Sportsmen Vote Yes” – Hunters and Anglers in Favor of Dedicated Funding — will have a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. today at the American Legion in downtown Marshall concerning the constitutional amendment up for vote this year.
