I can't help but think that this article, and the comments posted, are the best free advertisement this "business" could receive. I bet there will be a lot more than a dozen customers tomorrow night.

Pass the popcorn and the pretzels, please.

Mr. Blue, you are right, this is off track. So lets put it back. michael thinks christians might stone the nude dancers for being immoral, but they are likely stoned already, but the preachers who michael thinks might do the stoning are really there to save them. They are all law breaking immoral sinners and the folks in Lynd are afraid that*****fire and brimstone will rain upon them. I am anxious for the next chapter to unfold.

WBL947: You are not as cleaver as you are.You are making statements about me that have not facts to back them up. I don't have faith that water will flow from a faucet, that is ridiculous. We can get into a war of semantics but it will do no good. I do not have a intolerance for those who think differently than I. I don't have tolerance for those who use religion(which has great power in this country) to tell others what is right or wrong. If you can back up a statement with reason I am willing to accept it. If you use the laws that primitive man made up and say it is the law of god that is nonsense. You are personally attacking me when I have done nothing to you. There is proof that Mr. Chisham has assault people and yet he thinks nude dances are sinners. You have not the right to compare me with him sir. If we still had the morals of those in biblical times we could stone women for adultery and punish those who work on the sabbath. Morals are secular.

michael07 I did not say you should respect (people of) faith. I am sure you have faith in many things, like water will flow from your faucet, the postperson will bring your mail, etc. Religion or lack thereof has nothing to do with intelligence. You and John have an intolerance for people who think differently, which is typical for Americans, and as you stated atypical for many European countries. I agree with you that there are extremists who use religion to justify their crimes. That does not make religion a bad thing. Nor does it make lack of religion a factor in a tolerant society. Your citations are the same as using a holy book to justify opinions or actions.

Your first point is correct in that a true christian does not continue in patterns of sinful behavior. This is called repentance, turning from sin. John has done this. However, it is simply not true that John hits his wife and kids. Please get your facts straight before slandering people.

I agree with your second point. You will be glad to know that by God's grace we have recently been able to rescue two women out of that lifestyle.

That they are currently sexually, emotionally, physically and emotionally abused in their "exotic dancer" lifestyle?

Chisham is going on about he sins and how he is then forgiven. The difference between him and a true follower of Christ is that the true follower then changes his behavior after sinning; Chisham just keeps on sinning by hitting his wife and kids.

Now on to what really matters: the women who are dancing at these places. Did you know that almost 100% of them were sexually abused as children? That they are currently sexually, emotionally, physically and emotionally in their "exotic dancer" lifestyle? The women of this community should be outraged that their sisters are trapped in that lifestyle and try to help them. It's not enough to shut those hellholes down because he'll (Peterson) just move somewhere else and victimize women again.

WLB947: You didn't address my point. You said I am supposed to respect faith and that is where I disagree. I am suppose to respect that people have a belief in a god who condoned slavery, genocide, and stoning for the act of adultery? I am glad I don't have the absolute morality of a person of faith. Ending slavery, animal rights, and equality for women are all morals of a secular society. People can use faith as a reason to commit a crime because it is the will of god, an atheist has to take responsibility for it. I never claimed a secular person cannot be violent. We do need a better educational system in America but it is threatened by people teaching kids that god is a good explanation for the things in the world of which we do not have evidence for. People who do not have faith(like the MAJORITY of those in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark)tend to be more intelligent because the think in a more critical manner and require evidence to back up statements. They think with a open mind.

michael07 you are correct. 30% of the Swedish people are Christian or some other faith. There are well attended churches in this peace loving country. Some atheists, christians, and moslems are peaceful, well educated people, and some are not. Many Swedes speak English better than many Americans. So we need a better education system. Our American culture tends to promote anger and violence as exemplified in your posts. Sweden is a very tolerant society, the US is not. Thanks for supporting my point.

John is not breaking the law by preaching the gospel in the public street. He does not try to control women but offers them hope in the gospel. We are regularly thanked by many of the women for what we do.

Jake, sin should have nothing to do with this situation. There are 2 people who have broken the law. Dale adjusted his business to be legal. John plans to continue harassing people in public. Dale provides employment for people. John tries to control women.

I agree with prodigalson. The good news is that God can even save someone as wicked as Dale Peterson. God's promise is that He will save all who repent and trust in Christ. "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble" James 4:6

WLB947:Sweden is one of the most educated countries in the world and 70% of its population do not "believe" in any god. Americans can barely speak one language, they are way behind Europe is most test scores and are extremely violent. Yep, atheists are educated peace loving people, what a terrible thing. Read The God Delusion by Dr. Richard Dawkins. Maybe you can learn something.

WLB947: I should be angry when people harass others just because they happen to be gay. God is not a good explanation for the mystery's of the universe. Religion is a arrogant way to explain the wonders of the universe because it has no facts to back it up. Religion has caused countless wars and death in the world all based off of Ignorance. That should bother anyone who care about humanity. Maybe you should not judge me and call me a angry person? Tolerance for faith has caused people to be mutilated, stoned, murdered and so forth. Death for apostasy, is that something I should respect because it is someones belief?

Yes folks, John Chisham has sinned. I can’t judge him though because I have also sinned. Is there a sinless person here who is qualified to judge John? He is not a hypocrite. John practices what he preaches: REPENTANCE. He has never claimed to be better than anyone else, but he is forgiven because he has repented. I wonder if anyone has an intelligent argument against the message that John preaches. Insults are the artillery of people who cannot defend their position with substantial arguments. I preach with John every week, and he preaches about sin, judgment, and hell. But he also explains how people can be saved through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. John is not judging people, but revealing what God’s judgment is so that they can be forgiven and saved.

I think the newspaper fails us in what I consider their responsibilities to the community.

What is Lynd up against in closing this private club? What did it cost Florence in getting Peterson out of there? Why didn't reporter Browne reveal that the owner of this private club was past charged with failure to register as a sex offender, and is now engaged in the sex trade in this little town? Peterson also has been charged with a felony which prohibits the use of a minor in a sexual performance, receiving profits from prostitution, and promoting prostitution.

The news that matters most to people is the news that affects them the most directly, and I contend failing to report that a convicted sex offender is engaged in the sex trade in our community is irresponsible on the part of our newspaper. Instead, we get the local evangelical zealots as a human interest story.

Lyon County might be a good place to start a newspaper.

Mr. Chisham, I will respectfully ask again for you to explain what happened when you were arrested this summer. you were not attacked - I was merely giving public information and giving you a chance to explain yourself. I would think a person such as yourself would be more than willing to profess their sins to others. For someone to profess that they do sin without naming the sin, that strikes me as intellectually dishonest. As for your comment of "I hope you...face judgement day without him (Jesus)", people like you are the reason I left Christianity.

Shut down the so-called private club. That is the main issue. The rest is just a circus and this so-called preacher has received much more than his five minutes of "fame".

michael07 your anger at someone who studies and quotes the Bible is no different than Mr. Chishams' anger at those who differ with his interpretation. I hope you can learn to appreciate the mystery of our universe and accept that people have different opinions and beliefs about it. Perhaps you and Mr. Chisham could start an anger management group. Your differing perspectives would certainly contribute a wide spectrum of thought to such a group.

Learn some of the wonderful classics of literature like Walt Whitman. You probably wouldn't like Whitman though since he had free thought and was a homosexual would you Mr. Criminal? You cannot think for yourself so you quote primitive text which tells you how to live your life. It takes a coward to "believe" and a strong person to question things which do not make sense. I don't need to believe, if something is real I can experience it.
