hartman - an earlier news item said that while some funding is coming to the local school districts, they expect state education funding to be back where it was by the end of the year - so how does this help the school districts?

IMO, Dayton has laid the groundwork that generates more revenue while allowing for some tax decreases. I like the fact he increased funding for education and put in place a means to measure the quality of education students receive. Lets give his policies a chance.

I don't know why the DEms always have to raise taxes, why not just leave thing alone for awhile. Every office can run the next 2 years on exactly the same amount of money. Too bad that when all of these people put together a new budget it always (which is most of the money needed)has pay increases. When hard working Americans can't get a raise neither should government workers, including teachers!!

Spending like a drunken sailor doesn't do anything for the state's economy, either. Remember, it was going "to be different" this time with the DFL in power -they were going to balance the budget and get rid of the deficit. True t form they really just want more money to spend.

Goodbye sound MN economy.

When are the republicans going to stop beating that tired old drum? Tax breaks didn't create jobs under Reagan or Bush, they just gave the rich more money to ship to off-shore accounts.

Here's a though for the GOP: instead of trying to recycle economic policies that don't work, why don't you actually try to come up with something new that might work?
