April 2, 2013

To the editor: While I appreciated the chance to hear Senator Gary Dahms and Representative Chris Swedzinski speak at Tuesday night’s Town Hall Meeting, I feel more information needs to be given to......

AFSCME *****, just ask the happy campers at sw health and human services. They had a business agent move out of the state, sued the counties in the region, and they got nothing but an overpaid, no experience, late to our meetings, dude who doesn't give a rip, thanks afscme. I'll join with AFSCME in sporting day care unions when daycare moms make the average salaries that the AFSCME business agents make: over $90,000 per year. Look it up at the us department of labor. Oh yeah, fully covered medical, long term disability, expense accounts, mileage, sick, vacation, phone, retirement health plan, and pension. How you say do they pay for this, by the dues that all 12,000 of their lucky union members pay that have an average salary of about 35-40,000. Does something seem wrong, sure it does! but try to change it and you get bullied at your job, or threatened, or they tell your colleagues you are not to be talked to,or they make up rumors about you. Thnx for nothin AFSCME/Joanne

It feels like someone is in AFSCME's corner wanting to make this union happen. Might be the DFLers. We need to support daycare providers who have our precious children and allow them to retain independence. Unions ruin agencies, companies, and programs with hollow promises!

AFSCME wants to take over $2 million PER YEAR from child care subsidy money and put it in their own pockets. That is an undeniable fact. Hmm, can we say, larceny?

Taken right out of the pockets of low-income families in Minnesota. It's shameful. My blood boils.

Al - think of your worst image of a labor union and then multiply it by 100. That's a best way to describe AFSCME and their attack on child care business owners.

Hartman...Hartman? We're dying to hear your opinion here. Hartman, got any rebuttal to what Jen is saying?

Hello? Bueller? Bueller?

A union at its worst - they just need more dues to they can continue the lavish lifestyle as union officers - big pay, big benefits, etc.

Time for hartman to chime in about the 12 hour days he was forced to work.
