Curriculum director Amanda Grinager led the board through an overview of the 2013 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment results. When comparing the district's overall reading results, for grades 3-8 and 10th, MPS was at 61.4 percent proficient, which was well above the state average (57.8 percent).

Come on Amanda. This is also just a snapshot of one moment in time. Why don't you convey that same message to the good scores?

BTW: These math scores are not just one snapshot of a moment in time. The scores have been below the state average for quite a few years now. Please tell us the whole story.

I guess the big, new, fancy school didn't help our students get any smarter (similar to the idea that a stadium doesn't make a good sports team either).

I hope the school administrators remember these not-so-impressive test results the next time our teachers' union contract is up for negotiation.

So you think it's the fault of the building, people who pushed for the building, or the teacher's faults? Shouldn't the responsibility of the students, parents, or administration itself play a role somewhere? How about the state for it's idiotic MCA system? How about the idiocy known as NCLB?
