Growth fuels jobs and opportunity – the company is not growing like it did in the past. Caring for history, though important, does not move things forward. Decades ago, the home was almost always occupied by a spouse and children – perhaps without a second vehicle or local access to good food. The route driver was welcomed to the home, but now the family is gone more often and usually doesn’t want to be bothered when they are actually home. The business model today needs changing so that the company can fit their food products and service into today’s lifestyle. That is not an easy challenge. I agree – Greg was local and perhaps moved more assets away from Marshall than Lenny who was outsider. Ultimately, I think most in Marshall area would agree, that it would be great for our community if Schwan’s new CEO was someone who sees community growth an important cog in Schwan’s corporate growth and who is able to move the model forward with growth.

Lisa: It's pretty hard to get someone more local and with as much knowledge of the company as Flack had. 26 years, a Granite Falls native. Yet, did his leadership really do Schwan's good in the end? With 26 years experience, you'd think he would know the history and ethics. Yet, many people lost their jobs in rude fashion all the same, and he seemed to care little for history, moving many jobs to the Twin Cities.

I remember when working for Schwans was a symbol of pride...now it's just where you get a job until you find something better.and of course it does not take long to find something better than Schwans these days. Marvin would not be happy to see what has become of his dream.

I'm a former employee who thinks that Lenny did some very good things for the company (along with many very dumb things). In all seriousness, why not bring back Ken Noyes? The only thing Ken did wrong was move too fast. The company may be ready for his wisdom now.

I REALLY hope they go with a local option, and NOT with an out-of-stater!!!!!!! Somebody who has been with the company for a while and KNOWS the history and ethics!!
