Wouldn't it make sense to have a public forum to address the question 1) "What services do the patrons of the Marshall Lyon County Library gain or lose by leaving Plum Creek?" 2)"What are the financial implications?" I care more about these questions than the administrative and policy issues that seem to consume the boards.

It is hard to believe that the County Board and the Library Board are taking such a rash action with no input from Marshall-Lyon County Library patrons. This feels like some sort of an administrative snit. Why isn't there a public hearing scheduled to get all this *&&^ on the table! The interests of the people who actually use the library should be heard and taken into account!

I'm with 56258. I don't really understand what led up to this except that it seems like the library and Plum Creek have had different priorities for some time, finally culminating in some sort of power struggle.

I'm VERY concerned about the long-term impact on interlibrary loans if they withdraw from the system. My family visits the library weekly and uses them all the time. It's already taken a hit; if this would become a permanent feature it would very much diminish the library's usefulness to the community.

I wish that I could get a clear, unbiased summary of the core issue(s) that are leading to this situation. For those not actively involved in the "system" - this appears to be a power struggle or infighting - not a system issue that is in the best interest of the public/taxpayers.

Library board members voted to announce their intent to withdraw from Plum Creek, with the understanding that Marshall-Lyon County is willing to negotiate with the Plum Creek board.

Ah yes, leadership via ultimatums. 'Tis the season.
