Give the library some time

I'm supportive of the Board's goals, but it appears they took action without understanding consequences and options. It is much like the Tea Party's all or nothing move to shut down the government - actions first - thoughts afterward. The board may hate Ranek, but he has handed them their butt politically. If the board doesn't have a viable end game, they should get this sham over with.

The point is that our library is facing tough times and there are no solutions in sight. What kind of planning is that?

No amount of time and cheering for the library board is going to make this decision right. The county will not fund them. So now all of our tax dollars will go up because the library as Gwen said in her speech to the city council, can't cut 1/3 of their budget. So we get less service and we get to pay more for it! I hope the Independent will search out the other side of the story instead of just taking for fact everything the library says. The reason it should be debated is because in the end this idiotic decision will cost the tax payers more money. I went over to Tracy today got a new plum creek card and I now have all the privileges that I used to have 2 years ago when Marshall went off the deep end. I talked to the librarian there and got the other side of the story. I encourage everyone else who wants the plum creek privileges back to go to Tracy they were extremely helpful and very understanding of my frustrations. Also stopped and gave some business to a local restaurant there.
