MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Police say two reported sexual assaults in the Minneapolis area, at least one by a man claiming to be a police officer, may be related.
Anoka County authorities say a woman in Fridley reported she was attacked about 1 p.m. Saturday. The woman said she was walking alone to her vehicle when a man drove up and identified himself as a police officer, then kidnapped her.
The other case involved a University of Minnesota student who said she was approached near campus about 2 a.m. Sunday as she walked to her vehicle. She said the man was wearing a dark jacket and badge and warned her against walking alone.
The Star Tribune reports (http://strib.mn/1jCQsBT ) the man offered the woman a ride and when she got in the vehicle he drove to a remote location and sexually assaulted her.
