No answers in Model T Mississippi River mystery

WINONA, Minn. (AP) — Authorities are still mystified about a Model T Ford found sitting upside down in the Mississippi River in Winona.

The Tin Lizzie was discovered Oct. 9 while Winona County was getting a demonstration of a sonar scanning device.

Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude says at least half of the car is buried in the river's sandy bottom about 20 feet below the surface.

Three weeks after the discovery, the owner of the sonar scanner and members of the county dive team returned and recorded video images of the car sitting 150 to 200 feet offshore.

Keith Cormican, of Black River Falls, Wis., owns the scanner. Cormican tells the Star Tribune ( ) he can't tell whether there's anyone in the car, since that part of the Model T is buried in sand.
