ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A teen sentenced to prison for a brutal attack is facing additional charges of assaulting a correctional officer in Ramsey County.

Seventeen-year-old Cindarion Butler is accused of hitting a jailer and a sheriff's deputy while he was at the Ramsey County Jail waiting to be transferred to the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Lino Lakes.

A criminal complaint says Butler refused to obey the officer's commands to go back to his cell, then struck him in the chest. The St. Paul Pioneer Press ( ) says the deputy stepped in and Butler punched him repeatedly before he was subdued.

Butler was convicted in January of attacking Ray Widstrand, who was trying to help a girl who had been knocked down in a fight in St. Paul. He was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
