MARSHALL — Mass of Christian Burial for Lucille A. Polfliet, 85, of Marshall, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4–8 p.m. today with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish prayer service at 7 p.m. and from 8:30–10 a.m. Thursday at Rehkamp – Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall.
She died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at the Avera Marshall Medical Center.
Lucille Agnus (Buysse) Polfliet was born Oct. 29, 1922, in rural Green Valley, to Peter and Bessie (Kiley) Buysse. She attended school and graduated from Marshall High School in 1941. On Jan. 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Alex Polfliet at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. Lucy worked as a secretary at Marshall Middle School for countless years and retired in 1988. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, cooking and playing cards, and was a member of Holy Redeemer 500 card club and honorary president of Marshall’s 700 Club. Lucy will be remembered as a good wife and loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Alex, of Marshall; children Yvonne Caron of Taunton, Patricia (and Robert) Roering of Alexandria, Janet McCarthy of Sioux Falls, S.D., Judy (and George) Marlow of Hibbing, David (and Sue) Polfliet of New Brighton, Nancy (and Dean) Chanay of Alexandria, James (and Karen) Polfliet of Renville, Robert (and Deb) Polfliet of Orangeburg, S.C., Helen Louwagie of Bloomington, Ill., Susan Polfliet Green (and Joe Nagel) of Little Falls, Mark (and Crystal) Polfliet of Snowcamp, N.C., Donald (and Mary Jo) Polfliet of St. Cloud,; 35 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, numerous (and counting) great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Bernadette, sister Martha and sons-in-law Greg Caron and Joe McCarthy.
