RCW ends Lakers’ season in Monte

MONTEVIDEO — Two big innings carried Renville County West to a 7-4 win over Lakeview in the losers bracket of the Section 3A tournament Wednesday.
The Jaguars, who avenged a first-round loss (15-6), scored three runs in the first inning and four runs in the fifth inning.
For RCW, Paul Peterson batted 3-for-4 with three RBI and Mike Fischer was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Dakota Freiborg went 2-for-3.
For the Lakers (11-7), who left 12 runners on base, Corey Timmerman went 2-for-3 with a double, Josh Ramos 2-for-3 with a RBI, Cory Madison 2-for-4 and Adam Brewers 1-for-3 with a RBI.

Adrian 3, Wabasso 1
LUVERNE — Scoring three unearned runs in the second inning, top-seeded Adrian defeated Wabasso, 3-1, Wednesday in the winners bracket of the Section 3A baseball tournament.
“It was a great pitchers duel,” Wabasso coach Chad Olson said.
Adrian took advantage of two errors to score three times in the second inning. A two-out throwing error by the third baseman scored two runs.
Johnny Pistulka was the losing pitcher, walking three and striking out seven. Adam Diekmann was the winner, walking one and fanning four.
Wabasso (17-6) plays Renville County West 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the losers bracket in Granite Falls.
If the Rabbits win, they play again at 5:30 p.m. Saturday against the winner of the TMB-MACCRAY game.

LUVERNE — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team continued its season with a 9-5 win over Murray County Central Wednesday in Section 3A tournament play.
TMB fell down 2-0 after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning, but quickly responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored the go-ahead run in the third to take a 3-2 lead.
The Panthers failed to relinquish the lead as they added on with two more runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth while allowing just three the rest of the way.
Isaac Dolan earned the win for the Panthers after pitching four innings and striking out two while allowing four runs. Anthony Dolan came in for relief in the fourth innnig and closed out the game for the save.
MCC’s Paul Counter suffered the loss after allowing eight runs in 4 1/3 innings. Justin Reinsma finished the game for MCC striking out one while allowing one run in the fifth inning.
