BIRD ISLAND — Scoring six runs in the eighth inning, Milroy dumped Bird Island, 9-1, in Cornbelt League baseball Wednesday night.
For the Yankees (7-1, 6-0 Cornbelt), Eric Dolan singled to start the eighth inning. John Schuh had a RBI double. After Aaron Schlemmer walked and Dean Zwach had a bunt single, Sean Castle had a two-run single. Andy Schmidt’s grounder scored a run. Matt Bauer was safe on an error, Justin Schlemmer was hit by a pitch and Dolan had a two-run single.
Dolan batted 4-for-5 with two RBI while Zwach was 2-for-5.
Ryan Rohlik was the winning pitcher with Austin Deutz and Castle working in relief. They combined on a five-hitter.
Milroy’s next game is Friday at Belle Plaine as a kickoff to the reunion of the Milroy-Belle Plaine 1994 state championship game.
