This week the Hmielewski Family will be heading down to Kansas City to see my Mom and Dad, brother and sister and their families to celebrate Christmas.
With the bad weather we have had, I keep looking at the weather reports to see what the forecast is going to be along US 29. From Marshall to Kansas City, you have the opportunity to encounter every type of precipitation possible this time of year.
It has been very quiet on the SMSU campus since the students have gone home for winter break. After having such a fast paced fall, a slower pace is welcomed but very hard to get use to. Our coaches and staff all visit or entertain family over the holidays.
Many of us use this time to get re-energized for the spring semester.
When our student-athletes return from break, baseball, softball, tennis and women's golf will join wrestling, wheelchair basketball, women's basketball, and men's basketball as being sports in-season. January and February are times of the year when our facilities are constantly being used for academic courses, athletic practices and competitions, and intramural sports.
If you get a chance, go to SMSUmustangs.com and look at some of the new video features we have available for our visitors. You can also checkout a very busy January for the Mustangs with three home weekend events for Mustang men's and women's basketball and two home duals for Mustang wrestling. The Mustang wheelchair basketball team returns to campus Feb. 7-8 when they battle the University of Illinois.

I would like to wish everyone safe travels and Happy Holidays!
Congratulations to Aaron Ziemer for providing the correct answer to last week's Mustang Hoofprint's Trivia Question: After graduating from Valley City State University (ND), Head Mustang men's basketball Coach, Greg Stemen, began his coaching career in 1990 coaching at what school? And can you name the sport he coached?
In 1990, Greg Stemen's first head coaching position was at Wahpetan High School in North Dakota where he was the head football coach.
Thank you to all who submitted answers to last week's trivia question.
