Each week, the excitement mounts for SMSU men's basketball fans as the Mustangs continue their success in the NSIC (1st Place), Central Region (Ranked 1st), and in the NABC/Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll (ranked 24th).
Head coach, Greg Stemen, indicated at the beginning of the year, when ranked 18th in the first national poll, the team that was in this spot last year at this time, never made it back into the polls the rest of the season. Coach Stemen, the staff and our players have battled a tough NSIC schedule earning their way back into the national poll and holding down the top spot in the NSIC.
It is a great weekend for home events on the campus of SMSU. The Mustang men's and women's basketball teams play host to St. Cloud State on Friday and Concordia St. Paul on Saturday with the women's action at 6 p.m. and the men's at 8 p.m. in the R/A Facility.
