Lead pastor, Winds of the Prairie Ministries
Peace Lutheran Church (ELCA) of Ruthton, a member of the Winds of the Prairie Ministries, will be the host of the Latin American Lutheran Mission (LALM) Fall Fiesta Oct. 10. The day will start at 10 a.m. for brunch with a program beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending at noon.
The Rev. Richard Erickson, executive director of LALM, will be joined by three of the pastors of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mexico (ELC-M) and their families. They will share stories of mission along the MexicanU.S. border and in the northern states of Mexico. The event will feature activities for all ages, including crafts and a piata for the children.
Attendees are invited to bring gifts that are needed in churches of the ELC-M: children's clothes, especially jackets and sweatshirts (no snow suits or snow pants), tennis shoes (children's), sewing machines, thread, quilts, blankets, health kits and school kits.
When the ELC-M had its Women's Conference in July the supporting congregations in the States brought 30 large bags of clothing with them. In about half an hour everything was gone.
The churches and mission outposts are low on blankets, and completely out of school and health kits. Supplies for the kits could be purchased and delivered in boxes to be assembled later in Laredo. For more information about the LALM visit the web at www.lalm-elcm.org.
