Election Day Dinner Tuesday in Russell
The 114th annual Election Day Dinner will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grace First Parish in Russell. Turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, beets, coleslaw and desserts will be offered. The cost for adults is $8, children 5-10, $3 and ages 4 and younger are free.
Bone-in-ham dinner Sunday in Balaton
A bone-in-ham dinner will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the Balaton Community Center. The menu includes ham, escalloped potatoes, corn, coleslaw and dessert. The cost for adults is $7 and for children 12 and younger, $4. The dinner is sponsored by the Balaton United Methodist Church.
Sawyer Stevens benefit Thursday at Marshall Ev. Free
A chili feed and silent auction benefit for Sawyer Stevens is from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Evangelical Free Church, Lyon County Road 7 near the airport. A free-will offering will be accepted for the chili feed. Up to $2,500 matching funds by Modern Woodmen, Alden Nowacki. Supplemental funds provided by Thrivent.
Stevens is one of the victims of the Lakeview school bus crash. He continues to go to the hospital three times a week for therapy as well as occasional visits for follow-up care in Sioux Falls, S.D., and the Mayo Clinic. He is healing from sciatic neuropathy and complex regional pain syndrome. A fund has been established at Bank of the West in Marshall for donations.
Calvary Baptist to take part in Operation Christmas Child
About 8 million needy children in more than 100 countries on six continents will receive gift-filled shoe boxes through Operation Christmas Child.
