ELCA discussion Monday at West Side
"The ELCA Dilemma: What does this mean?" will take place from 6:308:30 p.m. Monday in the West Side Elementary School gym, 500 S. 4th St., Marshall (across from the Armory). In August 2009, the General Assembly of the ELCA passed resolutions that change the understanding of the authority of scripture. These actions have caused many ELCA members to ask the question "What Does This Mean" for our church? Three individuals will be in Marshall highlighting the problems that the ELCA now faces and the options that exist for us. The speakers are Dr. James Nestingen, Professor Emeritus of Church History at Luther Seminary and present faculty member of the Institute of Lutheran Theology, Associate Justice G. Barry Anderson of the Minnesota Supreme Court, and Pastor Randy Freund of Faith Lutheran in Hutchinson.
All are welcome to attend. Free child care will be provided. Refreshments will be served. This event is endorsed by area ELCA church members who are troubled by the present direction of the ELCA.
