Southwest Minnesota State University senior football players Blake Wilson and Bill Noethlich were named to the 2009 All-Super Region Three team chosen by Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
This is the eighth year Football Gazette has selected Division II all-region teams. First and second team all-region selections now advance to a national ballot from which the 2009 Division II Football Gazette All-America Team will be named.
Wilson, a wide receiver, was named to the second team and Noethlich was named to the third team at offensive tackle.
Wilson was SMSU's top receiver in 2009, leading the Mustangs in receptions (62), receiving yards (842) and touchdowns (13). His 62 receptions was the second highest total by an SMSU wide receiver in a single season since 1993.
Wilson finished his career fifth in school history in touchdown catches (23), eighth in touchdowns scored (24) and 10th in receiving yards (1,896). He was selected second team All-NSIC South as a wide receiver and return specialist in 2009 and was also named second team Daktronics All-Region.
Noethlich, a 6-foot-7, 201-pound offensive tackle, was named second team All-NSIC South Division in 2009, earning the honor for the third straight year. He recently played in the Cactus Bowl, which is an NCAA Division II all-star game in Kingsville, Texas.
Noethlich was part of an offense that finished 2009 ranked 13th in the country in scoring and passing offense.
