Holy Redeemer Catholic Church
The Season of Lent begins Feb. 17. During the Season of Lent, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church will be reading the book: Rediscovering Catholicism by Matthew Kelly. The primary goal is to give adults an opportunity to discuss and renew their faith understanding through solid information and discussion within a small group setting. A secondary goal is to give good information to be able to evangelize and welcome back members of our faith community and to defend our faith to others.
The format will follow the method employed a number of years ago throughout the Diocese with the Renew program - small groups. We have gathered 25 small group facilitators/leaders. Job description for small group leaders: provide a place (Faith Formation, Carlin Hall, Roncalli Room, St. Clotilde church basement or home), provide a time and week day (a.m. or p.m.), lead or assign the study guide material for the week.
Sign up for small groups (10-15 members) has taken place after the weekend Masses or at the Parish Center. We have 250 individuals for these small groups. Job description for small groups: make commitment to small group, read assigned material per week about 35 pages, read guide material and answer six questions. The process (Lent Book Club) will begin the week of Feb. 7 and conclude the week of March 21. Others wishing to join are always welcome; call the Parish Center and sign up and pick up material.
Additional Lenten Activities: "Soup & Sermon" sponsored by the Marshall Area Ministerial Association, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in Carlin Hall; "Stations of the Cross" celebrated at 7 p.m. Fridays in the Church; and ongoing activities of welcoming new members to the Catholic Church through the process of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
