Local student travels abroad

Katie Coleman, a junior at Concordia College in Moorhead, it taking part in the Summer Field studies program. She is the daughter of J. Matthew and Lori Coleman of Marshall.

Coleman is in the Connecting with People in the Middle East program. The aim of this summer field study is to explore common ground with the people of the Middle East.

UW-Milwaukee has commencement ceremony

The following individual from the area was among the more than 3,400 prospective candidates for degree attending University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee commencement exercises May 16 in Milwaukee: Ashia Gustafson, Canby, School of Information Studies, master of library and information science.

Henkelman awarded scholarship at SDSU

Hannah Henkelman of Marshall was awarded the Jim and Joanne Skyberg Scholarship in the College of Education and Human Sciences in Support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee 2006 Challenge for the 2010-2011 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Henkelman is a junior majoring in early childhood education at SDSU, the daughter of Mark and Melanie Henkelman of Marshall and is a 2008 graduate of the Marshall High School.

MSUM graduates 900 May 14

Minnesota State University Moorhead awarded degrees to 900 students during its spring commencement program May 14 at the university's Nemzek Fieldhouse.

Brockway named to dean's high honors list at Marietta College

Marietta College student Celia Brockway of Tracy has been named to the Spring 2010 dean's high honors list.

Any full-time Marietta College student completing at least 15 credit hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a given semester is recognized as a dean's high honors list student for that semester.

Brockway, a graduate of Tracy Area High School, is majoring in music at Marietta.

Haynes awarded scholarship at SDSU

James Haynes of Marshall was awarded the Robert B. Swanson Endowed Scholarship in the Department of Economics for the 2010-2011 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Haynes, the son of Tom and Mary Haynes of Marshall, is majoring in economics at SDSU, where he is active in club hockey.

Paterson awarded scholarship at SDSU

Molly Paterson of Marshall was awarded the Kemps, LLC Food Scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Paterson is majoring in dairy science manufacturing at SDSU, the daughter of Bruce and Kim Paterson of Marshall and is a 2007 graduate of the Marshall High School.
