Area Boys Basketball

RTR 69, Canby 56

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton's Taylor Newton dropped 26 points, helping the Knights to a 69-56 Camden Conference road victory Tuesday over Canby. Newton hit seven shots from the field and went 11-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Phillip Madsen hit two three-pointers for RTR, finishing with 12.

The Lancers were led by post Chad Blackwelder, who had 25 points and six rebounds.

RTR (1-0 Camden, 2-1 overall) goes to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday, while Canby (1-1, 2-1) goes to Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Friday.

Tracy-Milroy-Balaton's Dominic Dolan had 24 points and finished with team highs in assists (4) and steals (7), leading the Panthers to a 76-57 Camden Conference win over Lincoln HI Tuesday in Ivanhoe.

Joe Hook also had 24 points for TMB, which moves to 2-2 in the conference, 2-2 overall.

The Rebels' Brandon Stynski, Joey Bednarek and Matt Pavek each finished in double digits. Pavek had 13 points, Stynski had 10 and Bednarek had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Lincoln HI falls to 0-2 overall, 0-2 in the Camden Conference.

Dawson-Boyd 72, Lakeview 33

Dawson-Boyd ran away with a 72-33 Camden Conference victory against Lakeview Tuesday in Cottonwood.

The Blackjacks had 11 players score in the game, led by Joey Lee's 13-point outing. Nathaniel Huot added 12 points and Jarrett Wager hit three three-pointers for nine points.

No Lakeview player scored more than seven points in the game. Brady Enstad and Gage Larsen each scored seven points, with Larsen also grabbing a team-high nine boards.

Lakeview (1-1) returns to action Thursday when the Lakers host Renville County West. Dawson-Boyd (1-1) will host Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday.

Windom Area jumped out to a 42-13 lead at halftime, making short work of Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a 76-30 non-conference win in Westbrook.

Leading the game in scoring was Jake Holt, who had 18 points. Lee Holt added 16 for the Eagles.

The Chargers were led offensively by Jake Comnick, who finished with 12 points, while Aaron Theisen added 10. At 2-2 overall, WWG will host its holiday tournament, starting on Friday against Lakeview.

Dylan Lindstrom had 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in Yellow Medicine East's 47-45 West Central Conference win over Paynesville Area Tuesday in Granite Falls.

Leading the Sting in scoring was Taylor Olson, who had 16 points in the win.

With the victory, YME goes to 2-0 in the WCC, 2-1 overall. The Sting are back in action on Dec. 21, hosting Benson.

Canby 81, TMB 42

Canby rebounded from its first Camden Conference loss since the 2008-09 season with a a dominant performance Tuesday night in Tracy. The Lancers, who lost to Minneota 57-41 Friday, had few problems with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Tuesday and came out with an 81-42 victory.

Canby's Casie Baer led all scorers with 21 points. She shot 10-of-10 from inside the three-point line. Riley Nordgaard had a double-double with 20 points and 10 steals. Kiley Mercer also reached double figures, scoring 11 points, while Caitlin Slaba had nine points and a game-high 12 assists.

TMB was led by Kate Johnston, who scored 11 points. Jenna Stoneberg added nine points in the loss.

Canby moves to 3-1 with the win and will host Dawson-Boyd Thursday. TMB drops to 1-3 and will be in action Friday at a tournament in Wabasso.

After trailing at halftime, MACCRAY outscored Dawson-Boyd 40-28 in the second half, defeating the Blackjacks 70-59 in a Camden Conference game in Dawson.

Leading D-B was guard Kendra Lindblad, who hit five three-pointers, finishing with 19 points. Kelsey Jergenson and Mariah Kuhlman each finished with 14 for the Blackjacks, who go to 0-3 in the Camden, 0-3 overall. D-B heads to Canby on Thursday.

The Wolverines' top scorer was Abby Thissen, who finished with a game-high 18 points.

Chanel Madson couldn't be stopped Tuesday night, scoring 33 points to help Westbrook-Walnut Grove capture an 80-41 Red Rock Conference victory over Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin in Butterfield.

Madson also had a team-high six assists and six steals for WWG. The Chargers also got 15 points from Paige Erickson and 10 points and six steals from Molly Jarmer.

MLBO was led by sophomore center Janessa Peters, who scored 14 points. Her team shot just 9-of-27 from the foul line in the game.

With the win, the Chargers improve to 2-2 overall (2-1 RRC) and will host Adrian next Tuesday.

Abby Van Meveren and Crystal Van Iperen each finished in double digits for Murray County Central, leading the Rebels to a 54-24 Red Rock Conference win against Round Lake-Brewster in Brewster. Van Meveren finished with 12 points, while Van Iperen had 10.

With the victory, MCC goes to 2-0 in the RRC, 2-1 overall. The Rebels host Edgerton in a conference game on Friday.

Emily Baker accounted for 13 of Yellow Medicine East's 31 points, as the Sting were victorious in a low-scoring affair, winning 31-19 over Paynesville Area in West Central Conferece play in Paynesville. Baker hit six of YME's 11 field goals in the game.

Angie Scheffler finished with eight points, 10 rebounds and three assists for the Sting, who improved to 3-0 in the WCC, 4-0 overall.

The Bulldogs' leading scorer was Kayla Schaefer, who finished with seven points.

YME heads to Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday.
